Visited Congressional offices in DC yesterday on behalf of Rural Telephone Coops, along with other representatives from across the nation.  It is an annual event sponsored by the National Telephone Cooperative Association (NTCA).
Bladen We Care’s Annual Golf Tournament will be held Thursday at The Vineyard at White Lake.  It is the second of two annual fund-raisers.  Proceeds benefit many Bladen County residents with medical needs.
Congressman Walter Jones shared a couple of news articles published recently, one by NBC and a second by USA Today.  All related to wasted tax dollars squandered in Afghanistan.
Briefly, one indicated a Special Inspector General for Afghan Reconstruction (SIGAR) reported on rare blond goats to boosts the cashmere industry.  The $6 million program included shipping nine male goats to western Afghanistan from Italy, setting up a farm, lab and staff to certify the wool.”  At this time it is unclear what happened with the program. “We don’t know”, according to the spokesperson, “if the goats were eaten.”
One more comment from the spokesperson, “The task force was charged with jump starting the economy of Afghanistan with nearly $800 million in U.S. taxpayer funds.”  More later from a recent DC hearing.
