Dublin Peanut Festival kicks off with a parade at 10 AM today….Fun, food and a good time, all day long.
East Bladen High School football team (3-1) suffered their 1st loss of the year Friday night, losing to South Columbus 14-13 in a battle of the 2 top teams in the conference.  The Stallions should be favorites for the conference title, East Bladen will need help.  Still lots of high school football remaining this year.
West Bladen evened up their record at 2-2 losing to Red Springs 27-14.
Next Friday night, Eagles at Red Springs, Knights host East Columbus.
John Clark captures all the action in both games in our Sports section.
Folks in Texas and Florida still attempting to pull themselves out of the ‘muck’ left behind by recent hurricanes.
FEMA has frozen $’s that were earmarked for nearby victims of Hurricane Mathew.  3 huge hurricanes in a year is s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g resources, and residents of North Carolina, hard-hit by Mathew are left in limbo, at least temporarily.
Keep hearing about ‘skinny bundles’ from providers of TV programming.  That is an industry in a state of ‘flux’.  More to come.
Fall arrives in a week, September 22nd.
4 to 6 weeks left to cut grass & weeds.  Fire ants are coming on strong.
