Thoughts While Shaving

Christmas time is here, festivities are underway.

Great night at Wesley’s Chapel UMC last evening.  A Christmas program that featured youngsters, if they could walk they were eligible, as a cow or some other animal.  Fun, delicious  meal and a huge crowd.   And, Christmas activities continue Sunday evening when the choir presents their cantata, ‘Christmas is Real’.  All are invited.

Check with all local churches for Christmas programs, time and place.  It’s that time of the year!

Causes me to think back at Christmas’ long ago when I was a youngster, in a Christmas program at Zion Hill Baptist Church near Bladenboro and later when we had 2 youngsters, on the stage at Wesley’s Chapel, and many in between, and since.

Changing the topic, not sure when a special US Senate contest has created so many headlines across the USA as Tuesday’s Alabama election.  2018 contest should be action packed.

Not sure why, but reminded me of a referendum years ago on the sale of beer and wine when one leader speaking about the opposing leader said, “If he was being chased out of town, he would make it look like he was leading a parade.”

Time to clean up the leaves…if you have leaves on the ground.  Your neighbors will probably appreciate.

In recent months, been rising early to share ‘Thoughts’, then cuddle up in recliner, under a small quilt given to us years ago by my mom, one she made, and snooze for a short time.  Soooo peaceful.  Later!

Life is pleasant.  Death is peaceful.  It’s the transition that’s troublesome.  Isaac Asimov

We are a nation of communities….a brilliant diversity spread like stars, like a thousand points of light in a broad and peaceful sky.  George H.W. Bush

If you want to create a viable, peaceful world, we’ve got to integrate compassion into the gritty realities of 21st century life.  Karen Armstrong
