Thoughts While ShavingBeautiful February weather, enjoy.

“A Night at the Oscars”, the annual Hospital Gala is set for February 24, at 6 p.m. at Lu Mil Vineyard.  A limited number of tickets are available at $50 each.  Black tie optional and proceeds benefit the Hospital Foundation.

Saw a note yesterday on WRAL website that long time meteorologist Greg Fishel will be on medical leave for about six weeks.  He is one of the best when it comes to weather.  Hope nothing serious and that he returns soon.  Been a ‘fixture’ at the station for many years.

Reported recently that there is a group in the area attempting to revive the Bladen County Historical Society.  A meeting is planned for Tuesday, March 13th, at the Bladen County Public Library in Elizabethtown and all interested citizens are invited.  The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Filing for political offices begins Monday, February 12th, for county, state and national offices.  Check with the local board of elections for details.

New blood is always needed, from Bladen County to Raleigh, to DC.  Tired of the blame game, at every level?  New blood is the lifeline of any organization, including political.  There are a lot of good folks serving, but if you feel you have something to offer to make the system better, step up this year.  It’s a great experience, been there and done that.  After eight years, I thought about the old Johnny Paycheck country tune, “Take This Job and Shove It.”

Dealing with the public is educational.  Many can teach you something, and not just about politics.

If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.  Albert Einstein
