Thoughts While ShavingMany offices will be closed today observing Veterans Day.  A partial list includes banks, postal service, local and state governmental offices and Bladen County public schools.  Most retail outlets will be open for business as usual.  When in doubt, call ahead.

Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on November 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War 1.  Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and November 11th became a national holiday in 1938.

The weather forecast for Sunday morning was expected to be in the low 30s, but National Weather Service reported low at Curtis Brown Airport in Elizabethtown was a balmy 36 degrees.

National Weather Service forecast for today includes the possibility of showers, and strong winds with high temps in the mid to upper 60s, 90 percent chance of rain, with 1 to 2 inches possible daily thru Wednesday night and winds in the 10 to 20 mph range. Not a good time to be outside.

NFL action last night, Cowboys 27-Eagles 20.  Tonight’s game pits the 49ers against the Giants to complete the 10th week of the current NFL season.

Elizabethtown-White Lake Chamber meeting Tuesday (tomorrow) at Cape Fear Farmer’s Market at 12 noon.   And, a reminder of the Annual Christmas Parade through downtown Elizabethtown, Sunday, November 25th, at 3 PM.  Call the Chamber office for more info.

Nothing makes a person more productive than the last minute.
