Thoughts While ShavingLife comes with ‘highs’ and ‘lows’, ups and downs … Been thinking about Larrell Murchison. Living a dream, playing professional football … Signed a new contract with Tennessee Titans a few weeks ago … Then released and a few hours later signed with another team, the LA Rams … I have no idea what his schedule is like, but his new team will be playing in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Monday night against the Packers and on ABC. New play book, new coaches and teammates. May need to make sure the ‘long johns’ are in the travel bag. He is a super young man, a very supportive family and community, living a life that many would give just about anything to be doing, even with the ups and downs … What stress? … Go Larrell, Go

I woke up this AM thinking about young folks graduating from high school, many from college, dreaming of their new life … Thinking they know what they want to do … For some … perfect … for others, more twists and turns than they could have dreamed of … More on that later…

Anyone remember Dick Hilburn, a legless, one armed man who lived in Bladenboro for many years, now deceased? He lived just across the creek, north of Bladenboro. He and his bride were a part of the circus … and they discovered a young African-American … legless and one armed if my memory is correct, who began to live and travel with them … Dick never let his physical situation slow him down … Rode on a skateboard, any place in the area … pushing with his good arm … He was charged with some offense at one time … left court in Elizabethtown before his case was called and caught a ride home … Headlines in local paper … “Legless, one armed man escapes” from some number of law enforcement officers … No idea why I thought of Dick Hilburn today…

Weather forecast for the area … Increasing clouds today, with a high near 52 and a light breeze. Showers tonight, mainly after 1 a.m. Chance of rain is 80%, low around 45 … Thursday, showers and thunderstorms possible after 1 p.m. High near 69. Windy with gusts as high as 22 mph. 20% chance of rain Thursday night … Sunny … or mostly clear thru next Tuesday…

31 degrees at 4 a.m.
