For Appalachian State football fans … ASU 17 – Louisiana-Lafayette 7.
NFL Thursday night action, NY Giants at Patriots.

Recently had the opportunity to visit Southeastern Carolina Crossroads … again. Never cease to be amazed.

For those that may not know about Crossroads, it is a faith based rehab center for males who are addicted to alcohol or drugs or both and, for many, they have ‘hit the bottom’ and are hopeful of returning to a normal lifestyle. (There is a program for females, but not at Crossroads, and operated by a different organization).

Rev. Kincy Barrow is the Executive Director of Crossroads, in addition to serving as pastor at Whites Creek Baptist Church.

Crossroads is governed by a Board of Directors. The have a capacity of 24, 20 seeking help and 4 who are leaders, all former addicts who stay on for a short time to assist newcomers. Some require a few days longer. Some go home, return to their old environment and need more help. Many just need a hand, they graduate, re-enter society and are productive citizens, again.

Any male is eligible to attend (depending on space), the curriculum is 6 weeks long. All are assigned a task when they arrive, some are cooks, some clean the inside, some the outside, some may have a special skill and most likely can use it at the Crossroads. … All attend classes several hours a day and are required to adhere to the rules. All are asked for $s to help pay their cost, but, folks at the Crossroads understand some are ‘flat broke’ and have hit ‘rock bottom’ and just need help, Arrangements are made to accept all, none are turned away because of finances.

As stated earlier, Crossroads is faith based, not eligible for any support from government. … They must raise their funds. Support comes from individuals, churches, various area organizations, and from whatever resources the individual patients can afford, if anything.

They welcome resources, money, new or used clothing, but cash is best. They are invited to area churches from time to time, many of the attendees are anxious to share their testimonies.

Want to know more, want to support their cause, call the office at 910-549-8487 or email secarolinacrossroads@gmail.com. They are located at 1086 Susie Sand Hill Road, Elizabethtown, NC.

I may have shared more than I should have. No one asked me to share anything, but it’s a story that needs to be told, again and again.
