Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Thoughts While ShavingIt has been a tough weekend in Bladen and all of eastern North Carolina.

Wind and rain causing massive problems for all.  Just about everyone has a story to tell.

Road damage, many are not passable; downed trees, damage to utilities, including loss of water, electricial service, internet; retail establishments closed and so much more, including 2 deaths in a storm related accident.

Recovery efforts are underway and more is needed.  The task will continue for weeks, months.

Hopefully, despite many still without electrical service, we can begin to clean up, repair and return to a more normal lifestyle.

The entire staff of BladenOnline has done a great job.

Understand, over the weekend Gov. McCrory listed some of, maybe the highest rain totals were in the Tar Heel, NC area, in the range of 16 to 17 inches.  Have heard of a couple that tops that, in that area, one with 20 inches of rain.

Some are paying little attention to NCDOT Road Closed signs.  Those signs are there because of unsafe conditions.  Beware!!!!!!

In Happy Valley, our totals topped 12 inches, hard to believe a foot of water in a 24 hour time frame.

That water had to go someplace and our infrastructure suffered.

No school today.

The annual meeting of Four County EMC is set for this evening at Duplin Events Center, near Kenansville.

You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.  For example, toilet paper.

I love asking kids what they want to be when they grow up because I’m looking for ideas.

People who hold the door open for you when you’re still 20 yards away, force you into an awkward jog of gratitude.
