The situation in and around Israel continues to unfold… so sad and so many totally unprepared… including leaders around the world. Latest figures indicate hundreds killed… How? Why? Need some adults… to put aside petty politics and lead… in the U.S. and abroad…

Shriners serving fish today? If yes, a worthy effort… Usually in the Food Lion parking lot…

Bladen Crisis volunteers are sponsoring a fundraiser tomorrow (Thursday) from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Methodist Church, also a silent auction. The menu is a CHICKEN BOG.  Plates are $8 each… Just show-up, eat and enjoy. Proceeds go to assist so many who are strugglin’ in these uncertain times… They do great work and deserve our support…

The Grape Festival will be held this Saturday at Lu Mil… All day long and no admission charge… 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Numerous vendors on the site, The Tams will be entertaining at 1 p.m., A Grape Stomp and more. Most know the location… but for those who do not… 438 Suggs-Taylor Suggs Road, Elizabethtown… Actually, near Dublin. Ever stomped grapes?

Remember Mary Lou Ritton, an Olympic star from years gone by? Apparently she is fighting for her life… some rare form of pneumonia, according to her family. She was an Olympic champion in the Olympics in the mid 80s, actually retiring in 1986.

October is a wonderful time of the year…

Today’s weather for the area… Increasing clouds, with a high near 78. Tonight, a chance of rain after 5 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 60… chance of rain in the 39% range.

Thursday, a slight chance of rain before 8 a.m., then a slight chance between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Cloudy, gradually becoming mostly sunny… high near 77… chance of rain is 20%.
