A group of volunteers who assist locals who have needs, those who have ‘fallen on hard times”, good local expression… It’s volunteers who care… Today’s event will take place at Trinity Methodist Church’s multi-purpose building located behind the church… on West Broad Street… Eat in or take out…
NC State Fair is open for business for the 2023 version… It’s an annual event, continuing for about ten days. Fun, food galore. Admission is $10 – $13 for adults, $9 for children… 5 and under, no charge. Google for directions and more info. Set your GPS for 4285 Trinity Road, Raleigh, NC 27607… have personal items in clear plastic bags for a quicker entrance… Never been? You have no idea of what you are missing… and wear your favorite walking shoes.

Republican US House of Representatives members are attempting to elect a new leader. Rep. Steve Scalise received 113 votes Wednesday compared to 99 for Rep. Jim Jordan… both were far from the 217 needed to elect… and our Federal Government needs to deal with a new budget and other important issues, but must have a leader in place… A small group, using current US House rules, ousted Rep. Kevin McCarthy a few days ago… Another vote could be held today… Veteran members are not optimistic… NC Rep. Patrick McHenry is speaker pro-tem, effectively in charge… till a new leader is elected.
