Stormy weather continues … showers likely, before 11 a.m. today. Cloudy, with a high near 70. Breezy, with a west wind 11 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph … 60% chance of rain…

Tonight, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 59, and west wind 5 to 9 mph, becoming light southwest after midnight … wind gusts as high as 15 mph.

Sunday, (Church Day) sunny, with a high near 83.

Highest wind gusts over the past 24 to 36 hours were in the 30 to 33 mph range, near midnight Saturday … and rainfall as of the same time near an inch or so at the local airport…

Hopefully, it will soon be over, storm slowly moving north, can’t happen soon enough…

The Bladenboro fundraiser is still a GO. 2 area residents dealing with cancer will be the recipient of the proceeds from a BBQ plate sale beginning at 4 p.m. today at the school. Serving begins at 4 p.m. at Bladenboro School.

The storm did not stop ACC football play … NC State defeated Virginia 24-21. A full slate of games scheduled for today…

East Bladen High School running back Maslon Brooks has been selected to play in the N.C.-S.C. Shrine Bowl football game later this year … Congratulations … it is a big deal.

Despite all the inconveniences of the storm … my bride and I decided to go for a drive late yeaterday … primarily in the eastern part of the county … no standing water that I observed … in fact all pretty much normal … just a constant slow drizzle … at times more of a sprinkle…

In other news … Whiteville native MacKenzie Gore will not pitch any more this season … Has a blister on his pitching hand … Maybe the Nationals realized he has pitched about twice the innings of any previous year as a pro … He has had some great outings this year … and some not so good … Opponents have had a few more home runs than usual in recent games…

If you wonder about Brad Allen, Lumberton’s NFL official … it is his week off…

We should be returning to normal, weatherwise, over the next few hours … Some areas of eastern NC getting the full ‘brunt’ of the storm….’
