BURGAW — East Bladen’s Dominick Collins, Lee Barnes and Rodney Lacewell have been named to the All-Waccamaw Conference 1A/2A Boys Basketball team.

 

Collins (2)

Collins directed the Eagle offense and led the Eagles in scoring (14 points per game) and assists. The junior point guard poured in a season-high 30 points in an 80-56 victory over Pender and tossed in 22 points and 21 points in East Bladen’s 2 games against conference champion Heide Trask. He tallied 20 points in the Hoggard Holiday Classic against Pamlico County.

Barnes (24)

Senior Lee Barnes was the Eagles long-range bomber firing in 70 3-point baskets and averaging 11.3 points per game. The senior wing blistered the nets with 8 3-point baskets and a season high 26 points in East Bladen’s 72-36 Senior Night win over Whiteville. Barnes buried 6 3-pointers in a game twice – a 53-38 win over East Columbus and the season-ending playoff game at North Duplin.

Lacewell (44)

Lacewell provided a strong inside presence for the Eagles and averaged 7 rebounds and 5 points per game. The 6-7 senior posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds in the Senior Night win over Whiteville and recorded another double-double of 11 points and a season-high 16 rebounds in the 52-39 playoff win over Ocracoke.

Heide Trask’s Rodney Orr was named Waccamaw Coach of the Year and Trask’s Myron McKoy was named the league’s Player of the Year.

Other members of the All-Conference team were: Whiteville – Amari Best, Will Fisher; South Columbus – Andrew Todd, Khalil Morgan; Heide Trask – Bradford Bannerman, Gio Driggers, Sherrod Henderson; East Columbus – Cainan Patrick; West Columbus – Unique Kelly, Tyler Watts-Brown; Pender – Cyrus Page.

Other selections for Waccamaw Honorable Mention were: Whiteville – Brycen Edwards; South Columbus – A. J. Scott; East Columbus – Jaden Troy; West Columbus – Jaylen Bellamy; Heide Trask – Martez Davis, Treyvon Robinson; Pender – Ryan Howell.
