A pair of Bladenboro area hunters killed one double-bearded turkey each in the same day Saturday. Killing two of the extremely rare birds together is highly unusual.
Clay Allen and John Waldrop, who were baseball and soccer teammates at West Bladen High, killed the birds. One had a 10.5 inch beard and the other had a 9 inch beard. Both birds had half inch spurs.
