LAKE WACCAMAW – East Columbus pulled out a pair of 2-point victories in the final 2 sets and defeated West Bladen 3-0 Tuesday night in non-conference volleyball action by set scores of 25-13, 27-25 and 26-24.
Junior Alina Chavez pounded in 5 kills, 6 service points and had 13 attacks for West. Freshman Greer Pope handed out 6 assists and knocked in 6 service points, a kill and 4 attacks. Senior Maddie Walters slammed in 5 kills, 2 blocks, a service point and 7 attacks.
Lady Knight sophomore Natalee Sykes hammered in 5 kills, 3 service points and had 9 attacks and a dig. Senior Jenna McLean smacked in 5 kills, 2 service points and 11 attacks. Junior Marlene Crabtree racked up 2 kills, 2 service points, an ace, a dig and 8 attacks.
Senior Kiera Lewis banged in 2 kills, a block and 7 attacks. Junior Marlie Walters drilled in 2 service points, a kill and 2 attacks. Sophomore Emme Bryant contributed 2 digs, and senior Trinity Meares had 4 attacks.
West Bladen, now 2-3, will host rival East Bladen Wednesday night.
