BLADENBORO – Freshman Greer Pope filled up the stat sheet with 27 service points and 19 assists Tuesday night as West Bladen celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 Southeastern Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Red Springs by set scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-12.
Pope finished with 5 aces among her 27 service points, 2 attacks and a kill. Senior Jenna McLean slammed in 10 service points including 6 aces, 5 kills, 9 attacks and had 2 digs. Senior Kiera Lewis smashed in 11 attacks, 7 kills and 5 service points. Sophomore Jaylyn Clark banged in 2 attacks and a kill.
Lady Knight senior Trinity Meares hammered in 10 attacks, 2 kills, 2 aces and had 2 digs. Senior Maddie Walters drilled in 10 attacks, 5 kills and a service point. Junior Marlie Walters smoked in a pair of aces, 2 kills and 8 attacks. Junior Marlene Crabtree spiked in 2 attacks.
Junior Holland Davis knocked in 2 aces, 2 kills, 4 attacks and had a dig for West. Sophomore Natalee Sykes dished out 3 assists and added a kill, a service point and 2 attacks. Junior Alina Chavez powered in 4 attacks and 2 kills. Sophomore Emme Bryant came up with 2 digs, a kill and an attack.
Coach Gaye Davis’ Lady Knights completed the regular season with a 6-4 SAC-6 record and 11-11 overall mark. They will now wait for the Class 2A volleyball playoff brackets to be released Thursday to see if their season continues.
