BLADENBORO – West Bladen fought back from a 2-0 deficit to win the final 3 sets in a row including a 16-14 nail-biter in the final set and edged Red Springs 3-2 Wednesday in Southeastern Athletic Conference volleyball action.

After Red Springs won the 1st 2 sets by identical 25-20 scores, the Lady Knights blitzed the visitors 25-9 in the 3rd set then took the 4th set 25-21, before pulling out the narrow victory in the last set.

Junior Makayla Wright slammed in 14 kills, 7 aces and 10 service points to lead the Lady Knights. Junior Whitney McLean poured in 11 service points, 5 aces, 3 kills and had 1 dig. Sophomore Trinity Meares pounded in 7 kills.

Junior Emily Young racked up 8 service points, 2 aces, a kill and dished out 3 assists. Sophomore Jenna McLean fired in 4 service points, 3 aces, a kill and had 1 assist. Senior Kayla Norris hammered in 4 kills, 2 aces and a service point. Senior Caroline Brisson knocked in 3 service points and an ace.

Coach Gaye Davis’ Lady Knights improved to 1-2 in conference play and 2-4 overall. West Bladen will travel to Midway Thursday, September 16th for their next game.
