BLADENBORO – The repairs to the West Bladen gymnasium floor that was damaged by a fire back in June are almost complete.

The striping of the lines on the floor was scheduled for the end of this week, and Athletic Director Travis Pait said that Tuesday is the planned date for the completion of the work.

A 6-by-6-foot area in the center jump circle was damaged when a light bulb fell from the ceiling onto the floor and started a fire on a mat that was used for cheerleading. The fire was extinguished by a school custodian.

The West Bladen volleyball team has rescheduled a pair of its early games this season because of the gym repairs, but is scheduled to play Whiteville at home September 5.
