David Richardson of Lumber River Council of Government addresses the White Lake board

David Richardson, Executive Director for the Lumber River Council of Government made a presentation to the White Lake Board of Commissioners at their Tuesday evening meeting. Richardson gave a brief overview of the NC Tomorrow Plan. LRCG is involved in many aspects of regional and local governments which include the following programs/services: Aging Services, Infrastructure Stability, Future with a Viable Water Source, Land Use Planning, Transportation Planning, Housing Assistance, Strategic Planning, Financial Viability Planning, Digital Mapping, Education and Leadership Support for Elected Officials, Disaster Recovery and Mitigation Planning, Redistricting Surveys and Mapping, Environmental Clearinghouse for the Region, Regional Support for Decennial Census, and Workforce Development.

Spivey

Mayor Goldston Womble introduced Margaret “Maggie” Spivey who joined the administrative team on Oct. 13. She is training in all areas of the Utilities/Customer Service area and is learning the Town’s day-to-day operations as well.

In administrative matters, the Board approved Utility Releases ($3,150.38), Tax Releases ($1,245.80); closed Fund 50 Studies Water/Waste Water project; approved Capital Project ordinance to transfer unspent funds ($6,000) from 2015 E-One Typhoon Rescue Pumper to Fire department’s Capital Reserve; and closed the Fund 44 Capital Project for White Lake Family Medical Center.

The Town offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24 for the Thanksgiving Holidays.

The meeting was adjourned until Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 6:00 p.m. for the 2018-19 Fiscal Year Budget Workshop.
