East Bladen senior Xavier Wooten was named Sunday to the Wilmington Star News All-Area Football First Team Offense. His teammate, senior lineman Caleb Strait, was named to the Second Team Offense.

Wooten rushed for 1,841 yards and 29 touchdowns for an Eagle team that tied for the Three Rivers Conference championship and reached the third round of the Class 2A State Play-offs.

In the Eagles opening round play-off win over James Kenan, Wooten rushed for 251 yards, then piled up 309 yards rushing and scored six touchdowns in a second round victory over Greene Central.

The Eagle senior who also received All-Conference honors rushed for over 100 yards in nine games.

Strait was recently named to the NC Preps.com Class 2A All-State team. The 270-pounder started for North Carolina in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas football game and was also a TRC All-Conference selection.
Strait anchored an East Bladen offensive line that helped produce 36 points per game, 315 yards rushing and 361 yards of total offense.
