DUNN – The West Bladen doubles team of senior Yari Santana and junior Yuri Santana have been named to the All-Southeastern Athletic Conference girls’ tennis team.
The Santana duo defeated doubles teams from Clinton and St. Pauls to reach the SAC-6 Class 2A Doubles finals where they were defeated by a pair from Fairmont.
The Santanas finished doubles play with a 7-9 overall record and qualified for the MidEast Regional doubles tournament.
In singles play, Yari Santana posted a 5-8 record at No. 1 singles for the Knights, and Yuri Santana was 6-7 playing No. 2 singles.
Fairmont won the SAC-6 Conference championship and their Coach, Marvin Jacobs, was named the Coach of the Year. The Lady Tornadoes placed Skyler McNeil, Madalynn Godwin and Addison Waldo on the all-conference team.
Clinton’s Kensley Puryear was selected as the league’s Player of the Year, and teammate Kensley Lamb joined her on the all-league squad.
Other All-SAC-6 selections included Dana Sanshez and Donae Hernandez from St. Pauls and Prudence Muhamba and Ashley Dominguez from Red Springs.
