ELIZABETHTOWN – With family, friends and coaches in attendance Monday, East Bladen seniors Zaquis Leach and Rashard Willis signed to play football this fall at the ASA College in Miami.
Leach, a 165-pound running back/linebacker, rushed for 468 yards and scored 7 touchdowns for the Eagles this fall. He also picked up 435 yards of kick return yardage.
Willis, a 230-pound lineman, helped clear the way for an Eagle ground game that piled up 308 yards rushing per game. He also had a sack on defense.
East Bladen principal Dr. Jason Wray congratulated the young men and their families. “I am so proud and happy for these young men. I want them to go down there and make us proud.”
“Rashard has come a long way,” noted Dr. Wray. “He is a different young man today. I challenged him to be a leader, and I am so proud that he has developed into one today.”
Dr. Wray continued, “Zaquis has worked hard every day. I have seen him out there running the steps in the bleachers by himself. He has no problem putting in the work required to obtain his goals. He makes me proud.”
The ASA Silver Storm posted a 7-3 record in 2019 and has ten of their alumni currently playing at 4-year colleges.
