Former West Bladen star Rahu Purdie is having a strong senior season at Lander University averaging 12.8 points and 3.5 assists per game as the Bearcats have posted a 4-4 Peach Belt Conference record and 5-9 overall mark.

Purdie scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half Saturday in a 90-88 Bearcat overtime victory over Flagler. The White Oak native dished out 4 assists and had 3 steals.

Earlier this month Purdie racked up 15 points and 7 assists in a 97-80 win over Georgia Southwestern. The 5-9 guard started 2019 by collecting 10 points and 4 assists in a 128-121 victory over Young Harris.

Purdie has started all 14 games for the Bearcats and scored in double-figures in 11 of those games while playing 30 minutes per game. He is second on the team in both scoring and assists.

In an 82-74 December victory over Georgia College, Purdie pumped in 18 points and had 5 assists. The former Knight scored 16 points in an 88-78 loss to Columbus State and 12 points in a 72-68 loss to Clayton State.

Purdie closed out November by scoring 22 points in an 85-82 loss to Livingstone, and had 13 points and 4 assists in a 79-76 loss to Erskine.

The Bearcats will host Francis Marion Wednesday night.
