The championship season of East Bladen’s girls basketball team topped the Bladen sports stories in the first three months of the year.
Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles won both the Three Rivers Conference regular season and tournament championships. East Bladen reached the third round of the state play-offs before losing in overtime at Richlands. The Lady Eagles finished with a 27-2 record.

In Bladen Five Middle School basketball action, Elizabethtown defeated Clarkton School of Discovery 35-30 to win the girls championship. Elizabethtown won the boys championship with a 25-21 win over Bladenboro in the title game.
