Bladen We Care 2016 006A full field of golfers showed up April 21 at Vineyard Golf At White Lake to participate in the 27th annual Bladen We Care Byron Golden Golf Tournament.

The monies raised at this popular tournament are used to assist needy healthcare citizens of Bladen County. There were two tournaments held Thursday, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

The winning teams in the morning round were: First Flight, first place, with a score of 56 was Goldston’s Beach. Second place with a score of 58 was the team from Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith. In third place with a score of 61 was Camp Clearwater.

Second Flight, three teams tied for first place, with a score of 64. A scorecard playoff was held and first place was won by UNC-Pembroke, second place was taken by Core Mark and third place was won by Harold W. Wells and Sons.

Third Flight was won by Heineken/Atlantic Shores with a score of 68. They tied with the Marathon Oil team and won the scorecard playoff. Third place was won by Swisher International/Tillman’s Equipment with a 69.

The winning teams in the p.m. tourney was: First Flight, first place with a score of 55 was Lumberton Chevrolet. In second place, with a score of 57 was Crooked Creek and the third place team was First South Bank with a score of 57.

Second Flight, three teams tied for first place with a scorecard playoff determining the winner: Byron Melvin team, first place, Lacy West/Thomas Insurance, second place and Little Debbie Cakes, third place. All three teams shot 61.

Three teams tied for first place in the Third Flight with the Mansfield Oil (Air-1) team shooting 66 and taking first place. The DeVane Builders #1 team, also shooting 66, took second place and the Nestle team with an identical score of 66 came in third.
