DUBLIN – Tyre Boykin nailed a 3-point basket with 38 seconds left that lifted West Bladen to a 37-35 Four County Conference jayvee boys basketball victory over Midway Tuesday night.

Center Jason Moore worked the paint for 2 baskets in the first quarter, and guard Jaheim Lesane drilled a 3-point shot for West Bladen. Boykin and sophmore Kerron Washington added a basket each as the Knights grabbed an 11-6 lead.

Washington scored the only Knight basket in the second quarter as Midway rode an 11-2 spurt to take a 19-13 halftime lead.

The Raider lead grew to 25-14, but Moore battled inside for a basket, and Lesane and freshman Logan West drained 3-point shots that brought the Knights to within 26-22 at the quarter break.

West drilled a 3-pointer from the corner, Lesane banked in a runner, and West put back a rebound. Moore muscled in a rebound, dropped in another basket and a free throw to trim the Raider lead to 35-34.

Boykin popped free in the right corner and buried the winning shot. Boykin finished with only 5 points due to being hampered by foul trouble. Moore topped the Knight scoring with 12 points. Lesane and West finished with 8 points each, and Washington contributed 4 points.

Coach Taurius Baker’s Knights improved to 5-7 with the victory and will host East Bladen Thursday night.
