On January 21st, 1971, the Elizabethtown Cougars were able to beat Bladenboro in two football games, varsity and JV. The ending scores were 59-50 for the varsity and 46-45 for the JV game.
In the JV match, Pearly Ward and Donald Thomas were able to lead the win for Elizabethtown by scoring 17 and 11 respectively, while William Langely was able to lead Bladenboro by also scoring 17 points.
With varsity, the score was 15-14 by the end of the first quarter, with the second quarter ending at the score of 32-30. Donell Murphy was able to lead Elizabethtown in the scoring for this game, with 12. Followed by teammate Bobby Guions with 10. Bladenboro’s lead scorer was Wallace Robinson with 17, followed by Roger Lennon with 14.
