West Bladen High School LogoBLADENBORO – The seventh annual Adidas Christmas Tournament will be held at West Bladen High School on December 27, 28, and 29. Teams participating include Whiteville, Pinecrest, Scotland, East Bladen, West Brunswick, South Brunswick, First Flight, and host West Bladen.

“We are again happy to be hosting this event,” said West Bladen Coach Travis Pait. “The teams joining us this year are really good. This continues to be one of the premiere tournaments in the state. The level of competition will certainly help prepare all of the participants for conference play.”

Pait continued, “We are excited to have Adidas come on board as our sponsor. As this tournament has grown over the last seven years, we believe that this partnership will further the profile of this event even more.”

Unbeaten Pinecrest , the sixth ranked team in Class 4A, is led by sophmore point guard Bradlee Haskall who is being touted as a Division I player.

The Patriots are paired in the opening round with Coach Chad Williams’ First Flight Nighthawks. The Nighthawks sport a 4-4 record, but their losses have been to Raleigh Millbrook, Word of God Christian, Charlotte Myers Park and Kinston.

The Nighthawks feature a high-powered offense similar to the one that Paul Westhead’s Loyola Marymount team rode to a NCAA regional final in 1990.The Nighthawks make 14 3-point baskets per game and are led by junior sharpshooter Dylan Blake who averages 23 points per game.

West Brunswick (4-3) is led by 6-8 junior, Jadyn Parker, who has recently received some Division I offers. The Trojans will battle Whiteville (6-2). Coach Jerry Singletary’s Wolfpack feature 6-5 senior Cameron Richardson and junior Ty Moss.

In Thursday’s 2 p.m. opener South Brunswick (3-3) will battle East Bladen. South Brusnwick’s Jace McKenney has already signed with nationally ranked (Division II) UNC-Pembroke. McKenney, a versatile 6-6 senior averages 26 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

In Thursday’s nightcap, last year’s tournament runner-up Scotland will battle the host West Bladen Knights.

Admission is six dollars for everyone with no passes out. Concessions will be available. The tournament schedule is as follows:

Thursday, Dec. 27
2 pm: South Brunswick vs East Bladen
4 pm: Pinecrest vs First Flight
6 pm: West Brunswick vs Whiteville
8 pm: Scotland vs West Bladen

Friday, Dec. 28
2 pm: South Brunswick/East Bladen Loser vs. Pinecrest/First Flight Loser
4 pm: West Brunswick/ Whiteville Loser vs Scotland/West Bladen Loser
6 pm: South Brunswick/East Bladen Winner vs. Pinecrest/First Flight Winner
8 pm: West Brunswick/ Whiteville Winner vs Scotland/West Bladen Winner

Saturday, Dec. 29
2 pm: 7th place game
4 pm: 5th place game
6 pm: 3rd place game
8 pm: Championship game
