BLADENBORO – Three West Bladen pitchers combined to pitch a 5-hitter and strike-out 11 batters Wednesday night as the Knights defeated East Columbus 6-3 in non-conference baseball action.

Senior Garrison Carr started and worked 3-plus innings on the mound allowing 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out four. Senior Bryce Fuller pitched 2.2 innings of hitless relief giving up an unearned run on a wild pitch and striking out five to pick up the win. Sophomore Brady Durden closed out the game with a hitless, scoreless 1.1 innings. He struck out 2 and walked one.

Hezekiah Adams reached 2nd base on an outfield error to begin the Knight 1st inning. Sophomore Garrett Dunham knocked him in with a single. Dunham stole 2nd and scored the 2nd run of the inning on a passed ball.

George Nance singled, stole 2nd base and scored on Levi Zickafoose’s single in the Gator 2nd inning. East tied the game in the 4th on hits by Carter Watts and Jeffrey Robbins.

Junior Andre Moore swatted a single to left-center field and stole 2nd base in the West half of the fourth. Adams beat out an infield hit, and Dunham ripped a single to left that scored Moore. After junior Jordan Hester walked, Fuller drove in Adams and Dunham with a single to right-center field for a 5-2 West lead.

Aaron Mitchell was hit by a pitch, stole 2nd base and eventually scored on a wild pitch in the 6th inning to trim the margin to 5-3. Adams was hit by a pitch in the Knight half of the 6th inning, stole 2 bases and dashed home on a passed ball to pad the lead to 6-3.

Dunham batted 2-for-4 with 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored to lead the Knight hitters. Adams singled and scored 3 runs. Fuller cracked the 2-run single, and Moore singled and scored.

Junior Landon Coyle doubled to lead the Gator hitters. Senior James Little started on the mound for East and was relieved by senior Ayden Graham in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

Coach Wade Pait’s Knights, now 2-0, will host West Columbus Friday night.
