BLADENBORO – Senior Lainey Autry poured in a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals Wednesday night to lead West Bladen to a 5-1 non-conference girls’ soccer victory over East Columbus.
Autry drilled in a penalty kick for her 1st goal and also dished out 1 assist. Senior Eva Ayala-Martinez knocked in the other 2 West Bladen goals. Sophomore Jessica Verdugo-Gomez and senior Nadia Diaz Deleon were credited with 1 assist each for the winners.
Sophomore Ashley Sanchez-Resendiz keyed the Lady Knight defense with 11 steals. Sophomores Jazmy Funez Aranda and Yuridia Santana-Dominguez were credited with 6 steals each. Autry collected 5 steals.
Junior Briana Carranza Toledo posted 3 saves in goal for the Lady Knights. Autry sparked the West offense with 6 shots on goal, and Ayala-Martinez had 3 shots on goal and 1 assist.
Coach Kristen Parker’s Lady Knights evened their record at 1-1 and will travel to Purnell Swett Monday for a 6 p.m. game.
