ELIZABETHTOWN – Juniors Lincoln Ransom and Jake Harwood teamed up to pitch a three-hitter and strike out seven batters to lead Whiteville to a 5-1 Three Rivers Conference baseball victory over East Bladen on Thursday night.

Ransom gave up an unearned run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven in his 6.1 innings on the mound. Harwood relieved and induced a double play to end the game.

Senior Jamie Mishue batted 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored to lead the Wolfpack hitters. Harwood sparked a three-run Whiteville fourth inning with a two-run triple and finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Senior Dylan Hamilton batted 2-for-4 and delivered a run-scoring single in the first inning.

The Eagles pulled to within 5-1 in the fourth inning. Sophomore Lefrederick Wooten reached base on an error, and sophomore Brady Hollingsworth smacked a single. Sophomore Zach Meares reached base on an error, and Wooten scored as the Wolfpack turned a double play.

Senior Shy Pone, Hollingsworth and junior Gabe Barber connected for one hit each to lead the Eagle hitters. Wooten scored a run.

Wooten pitched 5.2 innings and gave up five runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out two. Senior Spencer Scott pitched the final 1.1 innings and allowed one hit while striking out two.

The Eagles, now 12-4 in TRC play and 15-6 overall, will travel to West Bladen Saturday for a 4 p.m. game. An East Bladen victory would clinch the league’s No. 2 Class 2A playoff berth for the Eagles.
