Connie Holland of the Bladen Baptist Association said association’s office is collecting baby diapers to help assist with the disaster recovery efforts following Hurricane Matthew.

Holland said the two major items needed following a major disaster are water and baby diapers. She said that she was told the baby diapers were a great need.

Those wishing to help can bring their items to the Bladen Baptist Association building located on Mercer Mill-Brown Marsh Road in Elizabethtown.

In addition Holland said the response to the disaster has been tremendous.

Holland said the Baptist Men have a feeding unit set up at Hyde Park Baptist in Lumberton and one at Western Prong Baptist in Whiteville.

Holland said other relief efforts include:

*Bladen Crisis Assistance is accepting cleaning supplies and masks 

*Convoys for Hope has a unit located in Lumberton passing out trash bags with cleaning supplies and masks 

*In Bladenboro the Salvation Army is at fire department with a feeding unit.

*Residents in the vicinity of Dublin needing assistance can contact Dublin First Baptist Church by calling Rev. Cameron McGill at 910-862-2277.

*Rev. Gary McMillan of Friendship Baptist Church said residents in the vicinity of Garland needing assistance can contact Friendship Baptist Church by calling 910-876-1148.

*New Center Baptist Church is collecting toiletries, clothes and shoes. Contact Amanda Williams at 910-770-2956.

*Ronald Hester with the Baptist Men is need of volunteers to staff a feeding unit. To volunteer call 910-308-2289.
