DUBLIN – The Bladen Community College Small Business Center (SBC) has announced certificate award winners of the recent “Entrepreneurs Academy.”

Samantha Biggs of Hope Mills, Brianna Graham of Council, Alexandria Greene of Bladenboro, Allyson Hughes of St. Pauls, and Emily Robinson of Chadbourn have received certification through a collaboration with the BCC Cosmetology Department. Weekly seminars for the Entrepreneurs Academy coursework were scheduled to accommodate the classes of cosmetology students.

“We have coordinated this series for the last three years and this is one of the more successful iterations,” remarked Audrey Lewis, director of the BCC Cosmetology program.  “We had a high percentage of our students participate this year and it is gratifying because salon work is inherently entrepreneurial work.”

SBC Director Todd Lyden added, “We are glad we are able to provide one stepping stone for these participants as they prepare to graduate. While most will enter the workforce working for someone else, with the right planning, they can easily be working for themselves and ultimately hiring people quickly.”

The Bladen Community College SBC provides one-on-one counseling, resources, and no-cost seminars throughout the year for those who are aspiring entrepreneurs and businesses looking for assistance.

Upcoming seminars include “Business Side of a Faith Based Organization” and “Parliamentary Procedure Made Easy”, both scheduled for Sat., Nov. 12.
