The Bladen County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC), focuses on juvenile justice issues and at-risk youth. On Wednesday, Randy Ellis, Chairperson of the JCPC, and Joey Todd, JCPC vice-chairperson, delivered checks to two local law enforcement organizations to help local youth.

Bladenboro Police Chief William Howell accepted an $800 check from the JCPC representatives for the annual Bladenboro Police’s Christmas Kids program.

“Thank you, this will help a lot,” Chief Howell said in appreciation.

Gary Turlington, Vice President of the Bladen County Law Enforcement Association, and Barry Pait, Chaplin, accepted a $2,200 check from the JCPC members to help with youth training programs and Christmas gifts.

Chairperson Ellis said, “We make these donations to help people in need, especially children.”

“JCPC is here to assist the families in Bladen County,” Vice-chair Todd stated.

JCPC’s mission is to invest in local programs that provide intervention, community safety, and quality prevention while coordinating a comprehensive approach to address juvenile delinquency.

The donations help JCPC reach its goals of supporting youth-oriented community activities and programs.

The local JCPC members are comprised of business leaders, faith-based leaders, school board members, law enforcement officials, court counselors, mental health workers, parks and recreation employees, the county manager, district court judges, county commissioners, and youth representatives from the communities within Bladen County.
