Every Thursday, the BladenOnline Team publishes a new video with recipes. In last week’s video, Nicole, Charlotte, and Danna celebrated National Buttermilk Biscuits Day with a special recipe serving them with cubed steak, Brussel sprouts, and more!

Following are the ingredients and directions Nicole, Charlotte, and Danna gave on the video.

Ingredients:

Cube Steak:

  • Cubed Steak
  • 3-4 cans Golden Mushroom Soup
  • Garlic Powder
  • Half can of water

Roasted Brussels Sprouts:

  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Olive Oil
  • Seasoned Pepper
  • Parmesan Cheese

Buttermilk Biscuits:

  • 3/4 cups of Buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup of Shortening
  • One tablespoon of Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of Baking Soda
  • Salt
  • Two cups of all-purpose Flour

The Team will start cooking the cubed steak; that way, we can work on the other food while it”s in the oven.

Instructions for the Cubed Steak:

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°.
  2. Put one and a half cans of mushroom soup on the bottom of a glass casserole dish.
  3. Layer the Cube steak on top.
  4. Cover with remaining Gold Mushroom Soup.
  5. Sprinkle it with a little bit of Garlic powder.
  6. Add water throughout.   Tip: To take advantage of all the content, put some water in one can, stir it up, and then pour it in another can and so forth. This makes sure you get all of the soup out of each can.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
  8. Put it into the oven for 30-35 minutes. Tip: Check it after 15 or 20 minutes.

Instructions for the Roasted Brussels Sprouts:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°.
  2. Wash and cut the Sprouts in half.
  3. Put them into a bowl.
  4. Add olive oil and seasoned pepper and toss.
  5. Spread the cheese over a pan.
  6. Take the Brussel Sprouts and put them cut side down in the pan.
  7. Put the pan into the oven for 30 minutes.

Instructions for the Buttermilk Biscuits:

  1. In a bowl, stir together thoroughly the all-purpose Flour, the baking soda, and the baking powder
  2. Add 1/3 shortening.
  3. Cut the shortening into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Make a well and add the milk.
  5. Stir until the mixture clings together.
  6. Add some flour to the clean surface and Knead the mixture on it. (About 10 to 12 strokes). Stop when it is malleable.
  7. Roll and pat the mixture out.
  8. Use a glass or a circular tool, dip it in a bit of Flour, and cut the mixture in circles.
  9. Put the biscuits in a pan.
  10. Put it into the oven to 450°, for 10-12 minutes.

As a dessert, the Team made coffee and Aguapanela:

Coffee:

  • Put a mug with milk in the microwave for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the coffee and stir it up.

Aguapanela:

  • Cut the panela in pieces.
  • Put a pot with water and panela on the stove and let it boil.
  • When it is completely melted, put it in a mug.
  • Add some milk.

The Team also added marzipan to the coffee and the aguapanela.

This week Nicole and Charlotte celebrated National No Dirty Dishes Day by preparing a well-equipped Chicken Pasta! They will serve the food on paper plates. Tip: don’t use paper plates every night.

Next week, Bladen Online will publish the ingredients and directions from the video.
