The Comets raced to early leads of 6-0 and 12-1 enroute to a 19-10 victory over the Thunder in Bladen Recreation 11-12 Softball action Thursday at Bladen County Park.
Angelina Jones, Racquel Whittington, Tinsley Allen, Rylee White, India Storms and Isabel Gardner all scored runs in the 1st inning for the Comets. Juliana Autry scored a run for the Thunder in the bottom of the inning to keep the Thunder within 6-1.
Ny’ashia Lyles, Alina Cathleen Vazquez, Jones, Whittington, Allen and White all scored runs in the 2nd inning as the lead grew to 12-1. Chyna Smith, Delana Phillips and Avalyn Tart all scored runs in the bottom of the inning to keep the Thunder within 12-4.
Keri Faye Burgess scored a Comets run in the 3rd inning, but Kylie Murphy, Aubree Smith, Phillips, Tart and Autry all scored runs in the bottom of the inning for the Thunder to slice the lead to 13-9.
Vazquez, Jones, Whittington, Allen, White and Burgess scored runs in the top of the 4th to stretch the Comets lead to 19-9. Smith scored the final Thunder run in the bottom of the inning.
