On the second Monday of each month, members of the Bladen County Board of Education meet at 6:00 pm in the boardroom of the Administrative office, located in Elizabethtown. The public is invited to attend regular board meetings, and those wishing to address the board have the opportunity to do so, but they must contact the superintendent’s office at least two weeks in advance so they can be added to the meeting agenda.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 8th. At 6 pm, Chairman Roger Carroll will call the meeting to order, then an invocation will be given by Mr. Glenn McKoy, and Mr. Gary Rhoda will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Before discussion can begin, Chairman Carroll will call for approval of the minutes of the previous meeting and approval of the agenda for the current meeting. No citizen participation is listed on the agenda for this meeting.

Information items include a maintenance update from Russel Worley and a redistricting update from Dr. Atkinson. The consent agenda includes fundraisers, overnight field trips, and Title V Statement of Assurances.

Several action items are on the agenda for November 8th — face covering policy from Dr. Atkinson, chiller replacement at Elizabethtown Middle School with Russell Worley, Student Resource Officer invoice for the third quarter with Susan Harrison, Student Resource Officer Contract with Dr. Atkinson and Ann Brown, Wellcare Supplemental Nursing Support Contract with Dr. Atkinson and Nurse Lanier, calendar modification for traditional schools and Bladen Early College with Dr. Atkinson,  and finally, Fall Custom Policy updates with Dr. Atkinson.

Closed Session discussions will include Certified and Classified Personnel, student transfers, and legal issues. There is only one closed session action item, which is regarding personnel with Dr. Beatty.

The meeting will conclude with board member concerns, Chair’s report, Superintendent’s report, and then adjournment.
