Among the most characteristic autumn features, sweaters stand out; no matter the color, thickness, or style, sweaters are always present. Besides being a climate-friendly garment, a sweater provides a sensation of home, warmth, and comfort.
The meaning of a sweater goes beyond its functionality. The term sweater refers, in English, to the action of sweating. In essence, the function of the sweater is to protect people from the cold. This does not mean that the sweater provides heat, but instead retains body heat while preventing cold from entering. On the other hand, the sweater has gained popularity as a characteristic garment of the fall and winter seasons, becoming related to different concepts such as home, affection, and welcoming. In other words, it is a hit in the seasons of fall and winter.
The interesting thing about sweaters, among many characteristics, is their authenticity. There are as many types of sweaters as there are ideas to create them. A basic sweater is a garment that covers the upper body and usually has sleeves. However, countless arrangements and seams can be worked on a sweater; the color, the size, the thickness, and even the knitting method are decisive when designing a sweater.
The “iconic” or “same as ever” sweaters are handcrafted and made of wool or cotton. Nevertheless, thanks to its variation and diversity according to time, both weavers and factories venture to explore synthetic fabrics or fine meshes to realize their products. Similarly, the technique in which the garment is made changes constantly and according to particular tastes.
Some people prefer to use plain, neutral-colored sweaters that fulfill the functionality of a sweater itself. In contrast, some people look to their sweaters for something as flashy as the occasion. For this reason, it is not strange for us to come across a relative wearing an extravagant sweater of Santa and his reindeers.
October, November, and December are often popular sweater months. According to the Orvis Company, “Though you can wear lightweight sweaters in the summer, no one is saying ‘sweater weather’ to describe the dog days of summer. True sweater weather is fall through winter and into spring when temperatures drop, and you pull out your favorite cashmere sweaters and cozy cardigans.” Despite discriminating a few months, the use of sweaters has no limits. Unlike some other clothes, men, women, children, seniors, and even pets look good when wearing a sweater.

Los suéteres destacan entre los rasgos más característicos del otoño; no importa el color, el grosor o la decoración, los suéteres siempre están presentes. Además de ser una prenda favorable al clima, el suéter proporciona una sensación de calidez y comodidad de hogar.
El significado de un suéter va más allá de su funcionalidad. El término suéter se refiere en inglés a la acción de sudar. En esencia, la función del suéter es proteger a las personas del frío; esto no significa que el suéter proporcione calor sino que retiene el calor corporal evitando que entre el frío. Por otro lado, el suéter ha ganado popularidad como prenda característica de las temporadas de otoño e invierno en relación con otro tipo de conceptos como la calidez y la acogida del hogar. En otras palabras, es una tendencia en la temporada.
Lo interesante de los sueteres, entre muchas características, es su autenticidad. Hay tantos tipos de suéteres como ideas para crearlos. Un suéter básico es una prenda que cubre la parte superior del torso del cuerpo y generalmente tiene mangas. Sin embargo, se pueden trabajar innumerables arreglos y costuras en un suéter; desde el color, el tamaño, el grosor e incluso el método de tejido son determinantes a la hora de diseñar un sueter.
Los suéteres “icónicos” o “de toda la vida” están hechos a mano, de lana o algodón. Sin embargo, gracias a su variación y diversidad acorde con el tiempo, tanto las tejedoras como las fábricas se aventuran a explorar tejidos sintéticos o mallas finas para la realización de sus productos. Asimismo, la técnica en la que se confecciona la prenda cambia constantemente y según gustos particulares.
Algunas personas prefieren usar suéteres lisos de colores neutros que cumplen la funcionalidad de aislar el frío. Por el contrario, algunas personas buscan en su suéter algo tan llamativo como la ocasión. Por eso, no es extraño que nos encontremos con un familiar vestido con un extravagante suéter de Papá Noel y sus renos.
Octubre, noviembre y diciembre suelen ser meses populares para los suéteres. Según Orvis Company, “aunque puedes usar suéteres livianos en el verano, nadie dice” clima de suéter “para describir los días caninos del verano. El verdadero clima de suéter es desde el otoño hasta el invierno y la primavera, cuando las temperaturas bajan y tiras saca tus suéteres de cachemira favoritos y cómodos cárdigans.” A pesar de discriminar algunos meses, el uso de los sueteres no tiene límites. En contrariedad a algunas otras prendas, hombres, mujeres, ninos, adultos mayores y hasta las mascotas se ven bien al usar sueter.
