Cade Hancock finished his year at Mount Olive University with some fine striking of the golf ball. The Elizabethtown native, who is the son of Polly and Jim Hancock played five tournament this spring and shot out of the 70s only once.

Here is a list of his spring events:

• Spring Bulldog Clash, Caladonia Golf and Fish Club, 75-71-78=224, T83, Team came in 12th.

• Laker Spring Break Shootout, Foxfire GC, 73-74=147, T15, Team came in 1st.

• Oldfield Classic, Oldfield GC, 86-74-77=237, T54, Team came in 5th.

• The Trojan, Walnut Creek, 74-73-75=222, 16th, Team came in 2nd.

• Conference Carolinas Championship, Cutter Creek GC, 77-75-72=224, 12th, Team came in 2nd.

Hancock led the field at the Conference Carolinas championship tournament of nearly 50 golfers with 39 pars while playing the par-three holes at a combined one-under.

Mount Olive delivered a six-over 294 in the final round of the conference tournament to finish runner-up with a 32-over 896 (303-299-294). Mount Olive records its highest finish since 2021, which is the last time the Trojans claimed the league crown.

Barton captured back-to-back conference titles after winning by 35-strokes with a score of three-under 861 (295-290-276).
