Bladen County native Kayla Thompson of Clarkton will journey Tuesday to Greensboro to attempt to qualify for the US Women’s Open. She will be playing the Starmont Forest Country Club course.
Starmount Forest is an old course founded August 1, 1930. It has Champion Bermuda grass greens. The qualifying event will be 18 holes.
The qualifying players will advance to the US Women’s Open in Lancaster, Pa., May 30-June 2 to play for a purse of $11 million.
