I am thrilled to share with you a touching story of community, generosity, and sportsmanship that has recently unfolded at East Bladen High School.

Our Varsity golf team, under the guidance of Coach Jeff Huff, has experienced an incredible season, filled with both challenges and triumphs. But what stands out the most is the extraordinary support we’ve received from Vineyard Golf Course at White Lake (VGWL). In a gesture of deep appreciation, Coach Huff presented a plaque to Mark Harritan, the General Manager of VGWL, acknowledging their unwavering support for our team.

VGWL, led by Patricia Augustine and her son Billy, has generously provided our team with access to their top-notch facilities. This includes (pictured above) the Back Row: Payton Tatum, Hunter Simmons, Dawson Wright, Connor Smith, Malachi Mckoy Middle Row: Ja’Mere Anders, Tony Todd, Zach Metts, Heyden Munn, Henry Simmons, Colin King. Front Row: Coach Jeff Huff, GM Vineyard Golf Mark Harritan, Team Manager Nicole Williams.

use of their golf course, driving range, and practice areas, all free of charge. Their kindness extends beyond our team, as they also host several conference matches and support other schools in the area. It’s rare to find such selflessness in today’s world, and it’s had a profound impact on our team’s spirit and performance.

Thanks to VGWL’s support, our team emerged as the conference 1A champions, a testament to the hard work of our players and the conducive environment provided by VGWL. We are now preparing for the state regionals golf match, and I firmly believe that our success is a direct result of the excellent facilities and encouragement provided by VGWL. The staff’s dedication to our needs, from ensuring we have enough golf balls to meticulously maintaining the course, has been nothing short of inspiring.

This story is a beautiful example of how community support can uplift and empower young athletes. It demonstrates the power of coming together for a common cause and the positive impact it can have on everyone involved. As we look forward to the state regionals, we carry with us not only the skills we’ve honed but also the spirit of community that VGWL has so graciously fostered.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our journey. Your support means the world to us, and we are proud to represent not just our school, but also the community that stands behind us.

Warm regards,
Jeff Huff
