Did you know that the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program has been a lifeline for families seeking supplemental nutrition for five decades? Bladen County Health & Human Services announced this year marks the 50th anniversary of WIC, a milestone worth celebrating as we reflect on its profound impact on the health and well-being of millions of individuals and families across the nation.

Since its inception in 1974, when the first clinic opened its doors, WIC has been dedicated to improving the health outcomes of pregnant women, infants, children, and families. Through its comprehensive services and support, WIC has played a vital role in promoting access to nutritious foods, breastfeeding support, health screenings, and essential referrals.

As we honor the legacy of WIC and celebrate its 50 years of service, it’s important to recognize the positive public health outcomes that have resulted from its interventions. By providing critical resources and education, WIC has empowered families to make healthier choices and fostered a culture of wellness within communities.

Join us in celebrating 50 years of the WIC program and reaffirming our commitment to supporting the health and well-being of families nationwide.

Bladen County Health & Human Services stated, “We’re proud to support WIC families in our community with access to WIC-eligible foods, nutrition education, and more.”
