Camp Clear Water fireworks 2The Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for a busy and festive Fourth of July weekend. Events planned for the weekend will include a free concert, the annual Sidewalk Sale and the annual fireworks display.

Chamber Executive Director Dawn Maynard said the Chamber is accepting contributions for the annual fireworks show at Goldston’s Beach at White Lake.  The annual display is a crowd favorite at White Lake and the cost for the show is about $8,500 which includes purchasing the necessary permits.

“We’re really excited about this year’s Fourth of July weekend. We hope everyone will come out and enjoy the lake and the fireworks display and don’t forget the Sidewalk Sale in Elizabethtown,” said Chamber President Charlotte Smith.

Something new this year will be the addition of the Sunset Jams Concert on Thursday, June 30, at Goldston’s Beach to kick the Fourth of July holiday weekend off, said Maynard. The concert will be sponsored by Southeastern Health and will feature Steve Owen and the Summertime Band. Admission to the concert is free.

“I’m looking for support from the White Lake community to be able to grow events in that area,” said Maynard.

She added that Mayor Goldstone Womble, the town council and local businesses are all supportive of the idea and residents are excited by the prospect of the concert.

Another Fourth of July weekend favorite is the annual Sidewalk Sale in Elizabethtown. Merchants will have plenty of bargains for shoppers to choose from as they set up displays on the sidewalks. The Sidewalk Sale will take place Friday, Saturday and Monday, said Maynard.

The weekend will culminate with the annual fireworks display on Monday at Goldston’s Beach. The fireworks display will begin at dark, said Maynard.
