ELIZABETHTOWN- East Bladen girls basketball coach Patty Evers was honored Friday night in her first home game after her team secured coaching career win No. 500 for her last week.
After her team defeated Fairmont 75-18 Friday night for win No. 501, Evers was presented a game ball commemorating the 500th win on the court by East Bladen assistant principal Heather Thompson with her team and assistant coaches around her.
Meanwhile public address announcer Joe Melvin read a list of Evers’ accomplishments including the four state finals appearances, nine regional appearances, 12 league championships and 12 Coach of the Year awards.
A banner honoring Coach Evers for the 500 wins was then unveiled on the wall of the gym. A reception was held afterwards in the media center. A number of former players and their parents were on hand for the ceremonies.
