According to the daily COVID-19 update from Dr. Teresa (Terri) Duncan, there are 78 active cases today, October 11th. On Friday, October 8th, when we last reported there were 93 active cases. The decline in cases has continued, thankfully.

There have been 5,382 cumulative cases as of today in Bladen County. In North Carolina, there have been 1,434,551 cases.

Bladen County Health and Human Services Agency has shared the following information:

In addition to first doses, second doses, and third doses, Bladen County Health Department offers booster vaccines Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm!

The CDC recommends boosters for:

• People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series.

• People aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series.

• People aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.

• People aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.
