Former West Bladen star D. J. Mason pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and scored 8 points, but his Campbell Camels dropped a 59-54 non-conference decision to Morgan State in Buies Creek Saturday.
The teams were tied 24-24 at halftime, but a 14-4 Morgan State spurt produced a 52-43 Bear lead with 2:31 remaining to play. The Camels sliced the deficit to 52-49 with 1:36 left and were within 55-52 with 58 seconds left but the Bears held on for the victory.
Mason tossed in 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds Monday night, but the Camels were edged 59-57 at Savannah State.
Campbell, now 1-2, will travel to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Tuesday for an 8 p.m. EST start.
