TABOR CITY – Bladen County pounded Columbus County 28-9 Sunday in the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch Tournament.
Cole Brisson and Dillon Brisson ignited a 5-run, first-inning with singles. Caleb Parnell hammered a double that scored Cole Brisson, and Samuel Cummings slammed a double that plated Dillon Brisson and Parnell.
Ashton Davis knocked in Cummings with a double, and Brody Rhodes and Luke Bryant cracked singles that brought Davis around to score.
The Bladen lead grew to 7-1 in the second inning. Consecutive singles by Chase Bryan, Cole Brisson, Dillon Brisson and Parnell produced 2 runs.
Bladen County’s lead grew to 9-1 in the third inning. Davis led off with a single, and Rhodes slugged a double that scored Davis. Bryant drove in Rhodes with a single.
After Columbus pulled to within 9-5, Bladen County answered with three runs in the fourth. Chase Bryan singled and raced home when Dillon Brisson laced a double. Cummings smoked a double that plated Dillon Brisson, and singles by Ashton Davis and Rhodes scored Cummings.
The Bladen lead grew to 16-5 in the fifth. Gavin Brisson led off with a single, and Chase Bryan crushed a 2-run home run. Cole Brisson and Dillon Brisson followed with singles, and Parnell knocked both of them in with a triple.
A 12-run, final-inning explosion opened up a 28-7 lead. Ashton Davis started the inning with a double and scored on Rhodes’ single. After Bryant singled, Gavin Brisson swatted a double that scored Rhodes. Cayden Simmons belted a single that scored Bryant and Gavin Brisson.
Chase Bryan clobbered a double, and Cole Brisson plated Simmons with a single. Dillon Brisson delivered a single that scored Bryan. Parnell drove in Cole Brisson with a double. Cummings raked a single that scored Dillon Brisson.
Rhodes, Bryant, Gavin Brisson and Ashton Bryan connected for consecutive singles that scored Parnell, Cummings, Rhodes and Bryant.
Dillon Brisson batted 5-5 with a double, 4 runs scored and 3 runs batted in to lead the Bladen hitters. Rhodes also finished 5-5 with a double, a triple, 2 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Chase Bryan slugged a home run and a double, batted 4-5, scored 4 runs and drove in two.
Cole Brisson batted 4-5 with 4 runs scored and an rbi. Parnell was 4-5 with a double, a triple, 2 runs scored and 5 rbi’s. Cummings finished 4-5 with 2 doubles, 4 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Davis batted 4-5 with 2 doubles, 3 runs scored and an rbi.
Bryant batted 4-5 with 2 runs scored and 2rbi’s. Gavin Brisson was 3-5 with a double, 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Simmons finished 2-5 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and a run scored. Ashton Bryan had a hit and an rbi.
Bladen County advances to a 6:30 game Monday against the Riegelwood/South Columbus Loser.
