CERRO GORDO – Garrett Dunham and Cole Butler combined to pitch a one-hitter and struck out eleven batters to lead Elizabethtown to a 13-2 victory over Columbus County in the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Majors Supplemental Tournament.

Dunham pitched the first two scoreless innings, struck out five and allowed a hit, a walk and two hit batters. Butler pitched the final three hitless innings in relief and allowed 2 runs on 4 walks and a hit batter while striking out six.

Zach Metz led off the game with a single, and Aquan Cotton walked, before Dunham walloped a triple to left-centerfield that scored Metz and Cotton. Dunham stole home for a 3-0 Elizabethtown lead.

Nolan Tatum beat out an infield hit, stole second and raced home when Butler ripped a single to leftfield. Marcus Williams yanked a single to left, and Metz smacked a single to right that scored Butler and pushed the lead to 5-0.

Elizabethtown tacked on a run in the third for a 6-0 lead. Jordan Hester raked a single to rightfield, and Gabe Cashwell hammered a double to leftfield that scored Hester.

Columbus County scored their first run in the home third, but Elizabethtown answered with a run in the fourth to pad the lead to 7-1. Williams drew a 2-out walk, Metz legged out an infield hit, and Cotton slammed a double that scored Williams.

Cashwell smashed a double to left-centerfield to start a 6-run Elizabethtown fifth-inning. Noah Hall walked, and Tredon Scott was hit by a pitch. Cashwell, Hall and Scott stole their way around the bases and scored runs.

Conner Smith walked, stole a base and sprinted home when Tatum laced a single to centerfield. Williams, Metz and Cotton drew consecutive walks that scored Tatum. Dunham was hit by a pitch that forced home Williams with the final run for the winners.

Metz batted 3-3 with a run batted in and a run scored. Scott finished 2-2 with a double and a run scored. Cashwell slugged two doubles, scored a run and drove in a run. Tatum batted 2-3 with 2 runs scored.

Dunham tripled, drove in 3 runs and scored a run. Cotton doubled, drove in 2 runs and scored a run. Hester, Butler and Williams added one hit each. Williams scored two runs, and Hester, Hall, Smith and Butler scored one run each. Butler had an rbi.

Elizabethtown will play Whiteville Tuesday at 6 p.m.
