CLARKTON – Whiteville defeated Bladen County 4-1 Saturday in the opening round of the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 Majors Supplemental Tournament.
Bladen County will play Columbus County at 2 p.m. Sunday. Columbus County dropped their Saturday opener 8-3 to Elizabethtown.
Rylan Bordeaux led off the Bladen 1st inning with a single. Joseph Burney and Zee Pone drew walks, and Aidan Thompson’s fielder’s choice plated Bordeaux with the Bladen run.
Whiteville sandwiched 3 walks around Zayden’s single to score 2 runs in the home 1st. Two more walks and Mason’s single produced 2 more Whiteville runs in the 3rd inning.
Rylan Bordeaux, Triton Bordeaux and Tyquan Tisdale smacked singles for Bladen County. Rylan Bordeaux scored the run, and Thompson drove it in.
Burney started on the mound and pitched 2-plus innings allowing 3 runs on 5 walks and 1 hit while striking out 6 batters. Thompson pitched the final 2 innings and allowed a run on 2 walks and 1 hit while striking out three.
