East Bladen High SchoolLUMBERTON – East Bladen’s varsity soccer team swept all three of their scrimmages at Lumberton defeating Grays Creek, Purnell Swett and Village Christian Academy.

The Eagles opened the scrimmage with a 1-0 victory over Grays Creek. Brooks McGill put away a feed from Caleb Hatchell for the only goal in a 1-0 Eagle win. “It was a very physical game but we seemed to dictate the pace and flow of the game,” said East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor.  The Bears best scoring chance came when a turnover at the midfield led to a diving save by goalie Spencer Scott.

Greyson Heustess fired in 2 goals and Brooks McGill delivered 2 assists in a 3-0 win for the Eagles over Purnell Swett. “We were all over their back line and outshot them 12-1 in 40 minutes of play,” said Raynor. Jake Evans was credited with an assist on one of the Heustess goals, and Irvin Hernandez turned one of the McGill assists into a goal.

Heustess racked up two more goals in East Bladen’s 3-0 victory over Village Christian. Milton Estrada booted in the other goal for the Eagles. McGill and Gabe Barber were both credited with assists, and Scott stopped a penalty kick with 4 minutes left to preserve the shutout.
