Donate Deer to Help Farmers and Feed the Hungry

USDAFarmers and communities manage deer is a successful program demonstrating  that farmers, sportsmen, deer processors and community groups can work together to limit deer damage to crops, increase local farm and community revenue and provide harvested venison to food pantries.

Local food banks are often overwhelmed with the resources to feed hungry people requesting services.  Hunters typically limit their harvest to what their family can consume.  As deer populations continue to grow, this offers a good solution while increasing quality of life that can create new sustainable income for farmers, help feed the hungry in local communities and offer hunters more harvest opportunity. Some goals of the project are to increase farm income by reducing crop loss caused by deer and encourage community-wide participation to reach program goals.

This program was developed by the NC Wildlife Federation to help sustainably manage whitetailed deer, assist farmers and feed the hungry. It is a collaborative effort with NC Hunters for the Hungry and NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission.
